Obituary of Joshua Pettitt
Joshua Tyler (Harrison) Pettitt, left us in the wee hours on the 6th of October, 2021, at age 40, in Portland, Oregon. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington on March 23, 1981. Throughout his childhood, he was an avid lover of the martial arts, earning a brown belt in kung fu. He studied the finesse of Bruce Lee’s style, Jeet Kune Do. He was also partial to Asian art and acquired a diverse collection of swords.
Horses were another part of his life. His favourite horse was IMA Trophy Two, a palomino reining Quarter Horse. He loved showing off Trophy’s reining talents, doing sliding stops and spins and watching the dirt wakes behind him.
As an adult, he loved working on cars. His pride and joy, was his 1992 Volkswagon Jetta, metallic midnight blue. It became a perpetual project and source of great pride, as well as the butt of many heartfelt jokes. When any of his other cars had issues, his trusty, faithful Jetta would turnover and purr, no mater how long it had sat on the sidelines. Instantly a grin of triumph and pride would engulf his face.
Family was very important to Josh. December 20, 2003, Josh and Jackie welcomed their beloved son, Sean, into their lives. He was the joy of their life. On June 11, 2009, Jackie trajically died leaving Josh a single dad.
Josh’s sense of humour and his very quick wit kept us all in stitches throughout his life. He also would continually enlighten us with fun facts of trivia.
After graduating Clackamas High School, Josh later graduated ITT Techinical Institute with his Associate in Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
On October 6th, Joshua was reunited with the family’s other airborn angels, his grandfather, Philip Gilbert JR, with whom he was very close; and the love of his life, Jacqueline Diane Price, mother of their son Sean. Joshua is survived by his beloved son, Sean Pettitt; mother, Deborah Gilbert; father Gene Harrison; sisters Cassandra Gilbert and Magen Gaston; brother Trent Harrison; grandmother, Patricia Gilbert; step-father, Vince Pettitt; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
We love you Josh. Forever in our hearts. Rest with the angels.
