Obituary of Miguel Angel Gomez
Miguel Angel Gomez, MD, FACC, born on October 21, 1953; date of death September 18, 2022
Born in Ixtlan del Rio, Nayarit, Mexico. Son of Charles Tillman and Natalia Gomez Parks. Miguel was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, Harrisburg, Illinois. He studied and received his LPN at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois; became an RN at Sangamon State University and a bachelor's degree in Biology at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, Illinois. Miguel then graduated medical school from University of Michigan in 1986. He completed his residency in 1989 at University of Washington affiliated hospitals in Seattle. He became a cardiology fellow at University of Utah, Salt Lake City in 1995.
Dr. Gomez began in private practice in New Orleans, Louisiana, for 5 years, then returning to the Pacific Northwest, settling in West Linn, Oregon. He worked as a non-invasive cardiologist, providing excellent care to patients at The Oregon Clinic and Legacy Meridian. He was a much beloved physician and a compassionate listener.
Miguel enjoyed gathering with colleagues and friends, listening to music, and wine tasting events.
Miguel is survived by his mother, Natalia G. Parks, and siblings: Barry T (Sandra) Parks of Mascoutah, Illinois; Kia (Ashley) Wardlaw of Easley, South Carolina; Terri (Tim) Watson, of Godfrey, Illinois; and Maria Elana (Paul) Joersz; nine nieces and nephews, as well as eleven grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles T. Parks, and a brother, Donald G. Parks.
A private family memorial service will be held at Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Illinois, at a time to be determined by the family.
