Obituary of Philip Orin Schollian

Philip Orin Schollian, aged 86, passed away on July 16th, 2022. He was born on August 10th, 1935, in Denver, CO, to Orin and Helen (Bouchie) Schollian. The eldest, he was followed by Harold (Joan) of Ontario, Marion (deceased) and Maurine of Salem.

 

Being raised in Turner, he was a 1953 Cascade High School graduate. Following high school, he was in the army for three years. Upon returning to Oregon, Philip studied at Willamette before joining UDOT as a Weighmaster in Woodburn and Eugene. After switching to Engineering, he worked in Baker, and finally Salem, where he finished out his thirty-two year career.

 

In 1961, he met Linda Kennedy, a Willamette student from California, on a blind date. They were married on July 7th, 1962, in Glendale, CA. Linda and Philip recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They had two children, a son: Donald of Salem. And a daughter: Kathleen of Roseburg.

 

When the family moved to Salem, they bought a small farm in East Salem where they raised cattle and other farm animals. Philip was noted for his huge garden that he grew every summer, een growing his own tomato and pepper plants.

 

Philip is survived by his wife, Linda, two siblings, his children, and his two grandsons: James (Camille) and Andrew, both of Salem.
