Obituary of Gerald Nelson
Gerald “Gerry” Peter Nelson passed away comfortably in his sleep at his home the morning of May 24th. Gerry was born in Eugene, OR to Emanuel and Alice Nelson. He graduated from Willamette High School and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Lane Community College. He worked in maintenance for Warner Pacific College and then Oregon City High School before transferring to a position with the Oregon City School District, where he worked until he retired. Gerry regularly attended East Hill Church with his family as an adult and volunteered regularly both at church and in the community. Gerry was quick to laughter and often had a big smile. He enjoyed being around people and loved joking around. He was always up for an adventure and helping others. He loved his family deeply.
He is survived by his two children, Jacob and Melissa, his brother, John, and former spouse, Jerrie Goode Nelson.
His ashes will be scattered, in accordance with his wishes, at a ceremony with family and close friends, and a headstone placed in his honor at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene, where his parents are interred.
