Carolyn Kogan

Obituary of Carolyn Jean Kogan

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts and raised in Sparks, Nevada, Carolyn’s youth was filled with rock-hounding and rodeo.  She was the Reno Rodeo Queen for two years running.  Her favorite arena sport was barrel racing and, even after leaving rodeo behind her, if you attended any rodeo with her, you heard her coach those barrel racers around every turn.  Bowling, her next passion, found her on many leagues and in many tournaments, keeping her busy almost every day of the week. Bowlers knew her as “Ding”, which was proudly displayed on all her score sheets. She shared her passion with the Junior Bowlers, as a coach, for many years.

If you ever visited her home at Christmastime, you’d see her color-coordinated tree and matching gifts underneath.  Lovingly and painstakingly decorated, every year the tree would be different and more beautiful than the one before it.

She is survived by: Her daughter, Tracy and son-in-law, Chuck; her 3 grandchildren, Justin, Karl, and Kris; and 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Callie.

There will be a casual get-together on Saturday, June 18th at the Legion in Canby, from 1-4 pm.  Those that knew her are welcome to stop by to share memories, stories, love, and laughter with us.
