Maxine Eileen Baptiste

April 4, 1932 - June 3, 2022. Maxine Eileen Baptiste, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Dayton on June 3, 2022.

Maxine was born on April 4, 1932, in Junction City, Oregon to Ross Walters Reid and Regena Gretchen Bennett. She and her four siblings grew up in Junction City and later moved to Toledo, where their father operated a sawmill. There she met Roscoe “Rocky” LeRoy Baptiste, whom she married on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1951. They had five children and sixty-three years together before he passed away on October 16, 2013.

For many years she worked as a successful Home Interiors representative, earning numerous sales awards and trips to Dallas and Nashville. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She especially loved genealogy and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Regena Story, Joseph Baptiste, Mona (Kevin) Kruger, Steve (Darci) Baptiste, and Becky (Bill) Davidson; sister, Betty Fieber; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Lynch, Jim Lynch, and Jack Reid; and her husband, Rocky.
