Jaclynne (Jackie) Sue Meyer (Bergland)

June 19, 1953 to May 9, 2022

 

Jackie Meyer was born Jaclynne Sue Bergland in Ellandale North Dakota on June Teenth, 1953, to the Reverend Clifford Bergland and his wife Myrtle.  She arrived into an existing family of 6 siblings: Sisters Maxine (‘28) and Glennis (‘49) and brothers Ralph (‘30), Clifford (‘33) Charles (‘36) and Allen (‘39).  Her parents and sibling have all preceded her in passing.

She moved to Oregon as a young child when the Reverend Bergland accepted a position in Albany.  Later she moved to Portland when her father was reassigned to various Evangelical churches there, ultimately settling at Tremont Church in SE Portland. After he passed in 1966, she and her sister and mother relocated to a small house on the seminary grounds in Jennings Lodge in Clackamas County.

After graduating in 1971 from Oregon City High School in Oregon City, she continued her education by attending Portland State University and Mount Hood and Portland Community Colleges.

Her work career was quite varied, beginning with working in senior facilities as a teenager and ending with over 20 years of experience working with babies, toddlers and youth in various positions with the North Clackamas School District, NC12, ending as assistant secretary at Hector Campbell Elementary School for many years and after it was closed permanently. 

In addition to working, she also offered her help to others by volunteering throughout her life in many areas and capacities. Starting by valunteering at View Acres Elementary School in her Children's classrooms and Cub Scout leader.  Most recently she volunteered in several capacities at the Milwaukie Center near North Clackamas Park in several capacities including Pete's Cafe

In October ’21, she was diagnosed with AML (Leukemia) and passed peacefully at her home in Milwaukie on May 9, 2022 after a courageous battle.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul, 3 children and spouses Rhona T. (Meyer) and Dan Stultz, P. Ryan C. and Kara Meyer, and Ross W. C. and Amber Meyer and grandsons Lewis, Bralon, August and Reed.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday June 17th at 4:00pm, at the Milwaukie Elks Lodge, 13121 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Portland, OR 97222.

During the 205 days following her being diagnosed with AML and prior to her passing, she received a lot of blood through transfusions including both whole blood and platelets only.  Furthermore, the chemotherapy drugs and the various procedures for administering them are, to say the least, expensive.  Therefore, for remembrances for Jackie, her Family would like for you to share with anyone you may be sharing her passing the following ways to honor her:

 

First off, encourage anyone that may be able to donate blood or blood product to do so, regardless of blood type.  As stated above, Jackie used a lot of donated blood and for a number of reasons, currently blood is in critically short supply.
