Obituary of Sibyl Kirby Iris

SIBYL KIRBY IRIS (MABEL); DOB: May 18, 1934; DOD: May 13, 2022

Sibyl was born in Ely Minnesota to William Spreitzer and Kathleen (King) Spreitzer. She fell in love and married James Kirby (Big Jim), and they had four children together. After raising her children, Sibyl earned a Sociology Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Fresno in 1986. Sibyl had many interesting jobs in California ranging from Rural Newspaper Carrier at The Hanford Sentinal to Business Form Designer at The Standard Register Company. She was most proud of her service as a Certified Nurse Aide at the Saint Agnes Medical Center Hospice in Fresno. She retired to care for her dying mother in 2005. At the age of 72 she courageously drove solo to Rhode Island Maine and back reconnecting with family all along the way. Sibyl’s greatest joys in senior life were tending to her glorious garden in Clovis, feeding peanuts to the bluebirds, reading, socializing with friends and neighbors, and watching documentaries. She lived in Hanford and Clovis California before moving to Silverton Oregon in 2013. She had lived in Mount Angel for the last five years. Sibyl is survived by her children: Jan McCorkle, Diane and husband Rick Milton, Bill Kirby, and Ken Kirby and wife Ana; grandchildren: Laura McCorkle, Nathan Milton and wife Emily, and Jacob Milton and wife Victoria; and grandchildren: Damian, Jacob, and Elliot Milton. Sibyl was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Joy Hassard, and Nancy Kirk. Special thanks to Windsong Memory Care at Eola Hills, and Brighton Hospice for their loving care. No public service is planned. Donations may be made to The Dementia Society of America.
