Obituary of Curtis Abbott Thompson
On Tuesday, February 8th Curtis Thompson peacefully passed away after his fight with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Curt fought the good fight with Alzheimer’s for 5 years, before moving on. He is now at peace and able to spend eternity with his true love, his wife of 50 years, Doreen.
Curt was born on January 18th 1945 to Wallace and Edith Thompson. He was the youngest of three children, survived by brother Wallace and sister Elizabeth (Boots). Curt married is wife Dee after six months of meeting on January 26th 1967. Their family grew with three children, Scott, Jennifer, and Sarah. He was also father-in-law to Jennifer’s husband Kurt. One of Curt’s favorite things was spending time with his grandchildren, Bradon, Karter, Avery, McKenna, and AJ. Curt was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and spent much of his time during his life with his children and grandchildren and watching them and their activities. They all appreciated that about him, dearly loved him, and will miss him daily.
Curt was employed by Johns Manville for 42 years before retiring 12 years ago. While at JM, Curt worked in New Jersey, Colorado, and Georgia. During retirement in Colorado Curt was active with the Castle Rock Senior Center, travel to beaches and visiting family, and building projects and crafts for Dee. He played softball throughout his life and that passion kept him playing for years playing on the Castle Rock Rockies in the Senior Softball league until he was forced to stop.
Curtis was many things to many people. He was loyal and dependable, many relied on him for many things. Always a child at heart, he loved to laugh with his family and friends. He will live in our hearts forever.
