Obituary of Elisabeth M Perchellet
Dr. Elisabeth M. Perchellet (May 20, 1948- March 13, 2022)Dr. Elisabeth M. Perchellet (nee Negellen), 73, passed away on March 13, 2022, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Born and educated in the Paris and Etampes areas, her hometown was Etrechy, Essonne, France. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry, M.S. in Physiology, and Ph.D. in Endocrinology from the University Paris VI (Sciences). After postdoctoral fellowships in Physiology at the St. Lazarus Hospital, INSERM, in Paris and Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, she worked as a Research Associate in Gastroenterology at the VA Hospital, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI, in Biology at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, in Chemistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, MO, and at the Rabies Serology Laboratory, Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, Manhattan, KS. Elisabeth was involved in World Friendship, a source of assistance and support to foreign researchers new to the K-State community. Her favorite charity was the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She enjoyed reading, gardening, hiking, backpacking, and visiting museums and national parks throughout Europe, Canada, and the USA. A member of the Salem Bridge Club, she also frequently played in Corvallis and traveled to many ACBL sectional and regional bridge tournaments. She had been married for 49 years to Jean-Pierre. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a loving wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Madeleine Negellen; brother Jean-Luc; and sisters Catherine and Anne-Marie. She is survived by her husband JP; children Celine Jiron Corrales (Eulises), Antoine (Melissa), and Stephen (Amy); grandchildren Lucie, Max, Logan, Noah, Bristol, Diego, and Natalie; niece Sophie Negellen; sister-in-law Jacqueline, and several cousins.
