Obituary of Clarence Ivan Hedrick
Clarence (Clancy) Ivan Hedrick, born November 4th, 1939, entered into the presence of his Savior on March 1st, 2022. He passed at his home in Dayton, Oregon, surrounded by family.
Clancy was 1 of 8 children born to Clarence and Edith (Bigsby) Hedrick, in Forest Grove, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Hedrick, son Charles (Tracy) Hedrick, son Bryant (Rose) Hedrick, daughter Michelle (Scott) Archibald, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sister Helen Wright and family, sister Louise Fletcher and family, sister Linda Bogart and family, sister Loretta Christensen and family, and sister Wilma Pratt and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Irene Ball, and brother Daniel Hedrick, whom he missed dearly.
Clancy enjoyed vintage cars, hunting, fishing, camping, and sports. He coached little league and his church’s basketball and softball teams. He hung up his coaching career at age 70! He loved spending time with family and friends, of which he had plenty of both. His sense of humor and wit made life fun, even if circumstances were not.
After serving his country in the Navy, he came home and met the love of his life. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past August. He still claimed she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
He built travel trailers for several years before pursuing a career as a deputy sheriff. He earned a bachelors degree in criminal law and had a very exciting and eventful career with the Washington County Sheriffs office.
Clancy loved hard and played hard. We will forever be grateful for the legacy of love, empathy, and humor he left with us.
