Janis Moran

Obituary of Janis L. Moran

Janis L. Moran was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to her family and friends for her quick wit and funny comebacks, her love of cooking and baking, her sense of style and her courage and resilience in overcoming adversity in life.

Jan was born in 1936 and grew up in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Grant High School and attended Lewis & Clark College for one year. In 1957 she married Michael Adrian Moran and they were married for 41 years until his death in May 1998.

Jan was truly a one of kind special woman. She devoted her life to caring for her husband and children along with many of their friends that would eventually end up in her kitchen and around the dinner table. There was always room for one more at Jan’s house. Renowned for her baking skills, the cookie jar was always full or she attempted to keep it full! She threw amazing holiday dinner parties and there was usually always a dessert with every evening meal. Keeping her family and friends satiated was her way of showing her love. She also enjoyed playing cards, golf, was an avid reader and loved watching her kids and later on, grandkids play hockey, lacrosse, football, soccer, swim meets, attend musicals, dance recitals and figure skating events. Jan loved music, everything from country to beach music to the Moody Blues, Elvis, and the Beatles.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Madolyn E. Potts and father, Wilbur L. Potts and her husband, Michael Adrian Moran. She is survived by her four children, Kellie Wesley (Blake), Teresa Harrington (Clay), Timothy Moran (Denise), Patrick Moran (Debbie), as well as Sandy Moran, ten grandchildren and 3 great-children and her brother, Jeffery R. Potts. She will be deeply missed by all her family, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched so sweetly.

A funeral Mass to honor Jan will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 9905 SW McKenzie Street, Tigard, Oregon on Wednesday, March 9th at 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe, 320 Oswego Pointe Drive, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97034 immediately following the Mass.

Private interment will be held at a later date with family members.
