Michael Doster

Obituary of Michael Paul Doster

Michael Paul Doster was born in 1946 to Phyllis McMurray and Paul Doster in Oregon City.  He was married for 39 years to KayDel Marshall.  Mike served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam era on an Ice Breaker and was also stationed on the Columbia River.  Mike was a Precision Machinist most of his life working for companies such as Warn Industries and Stanley Tool.  He also had a self-employed job doing wood creations and cement creatures.  He made wooden squirrel feeders that birds could not access and he made cement turtles, and other creatures that he sold at the Saturday Market in Gresham.  He also made gorgeous jewelry boxes for his family.  The things he most looked forward to was Spring and Summer when he could plant and manage a beautiful garden and flowers surrounding his home.  People actually stopped and took pictures of the front yard.  His favorite thing to grow was Tomatoes, which was the largest crop in the Garden. Mike was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.  Mike was a fabulous cook and could make soups and roasts and dinners that would put chefs to shame.  Most of all, he enjoyed time with his extended family, especially his great nieces.  Before Christmas, he would take the great nieces shopping for what they wanted within a budget and then take them out to dinner.  In the summer, he and KayDel would take them camping, usually somewhere in Oregon.  When he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in July 2021, he spent the last part of the Summer with his family, the Nieces and their families one last time on the Patio enjoying the flowers and the company.  Mike went to join our Lord and Savior on the morning of Friday, February 25, 2022.  There will be a service for Mike on Friday, April 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetary in Portland, Oregon.
