Peter was a great guy. Intelligent as they come. He used to visit me at work and we’d sit and talk.

I worked with Pete when we were Vistas in NC in 1970. He held his beliefs very strongly, but was really a softee, willing to help anyone in trouble. His height was a bit of a problem
He rented a house in Balsam Grove where his kichen ceiling was lower than his living room and you could aleays here him bellow when he'd knock out a light bulb with his head. He always kept a supply on hand.

Peter was ahead of me at SHS and then UMASS where we saw him play in the cage along with Joe DiSarcina, another Somerville grad. After college and in the midst of the Fisher-Spaski chess fever we had multiple chess matches going while the tournament was broadcast on TV. I remember him as gentle, highly intelligent, and with a big hearty laugh. RIP, Peter.

To the family of Peter Gayeska:
Peter was my first cousin. Athough I never knew him, I knew of his accomplishments at U Mass. The attached picture is of him at one year old with his mother. She sent it to my mother in 1948. I offer you my condolences for your loss.

Incredible person! We were lucky to have known Pete. We miss him everyday. So happy his dog still is coming to the park. Ron is a true friend of Pete. Picture of Shadow included❤️

Pete showed up for us, literally and figuratively every day. He will be missed like a sunny blue sky on a cold winter day. My heart aches. Missy
