Obituary of John Charles Saemann

John Charles Saemann

Written 2/13/2022

I am writing this obituary for my brother, John, two weeks after he has died. The lag in time is not due to disrespect, but due to heartache. I wrote my parent’s obituaries-Dad in 2017 and Mom in 2020. It was hard, but this is so much harder. One does not expect their little brother to pass before them. Writing this today means it is true-you are really gone. I miss you brother. Your Big Sister, Kellie

John Charles Saemann was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 13th, 1966. He was the fourth child of five. John was born to Charles Eugene Saemann and Mary Suzanne (Olson) Saemann. John attended David Douglas and Reynold's high schools. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1984.

John worked in the restaurant business for 23 years. He was a bartender for Olive Garden in Gresham until 2015. After that John moved to Sandy and was a caregiver for my mother and other clients for about 7 years. One of his clients and friends, Bill, proceeded John in death.

John loved camping, kayaking, bikes, motorcycles and being outdoors. He loved going to Dodge Park with Bill, Bill's dog and Cookie. He really loved Cookie (his roommate's dog). They were inseparable for 6 years. Cookie was always with John. He loved hanging out with his friends and family near the water and around campfires.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles E. Saemann and his mother, Mary S. Wines. He also lost his step-father, Myrel Wines. He is survived by his siblings Kimberly Virtue (Peter), Kellie Burkhardt (Dan), Kacie Saemann, and Jeff Saemann. John also leaves behind several nephews and a niece: Stephanie Saemann, Wesley Saemann, Jonathan Burkhardt, Christopher Burkhardt and Seth Saemann. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
