Obituary of Catherine Ferguson
Catherine (Kati) Maud Ferguson born July 11,1924, died February 3, 2022.
Kati was born in La Habra CA. Her parents were Lambert and Ada Hudspeth. She was married to LeRoy Ferguson who predeceased her in death. She attended Whittier College and graduated with a PE degree and teaching credential. After marrying in 1948, they lived in Holtville where LeRoy’s parents pioneered one of the original ranches in the Imperial Valley. In 1958 they moved to Ventura County where LeRoy was a fireman at Pt. Mugu, Naval base. Kati worked as a teacher for home-bound students. She thoroughly enjoyed this part-time job which allowed her the time to give to church activities especially choir and missionary support.
Growing up, Kati attended Whittier Friends church and visited Quaker Meadow summer camp many times.
Initially she and LeRoy were members of North Holtville Friends Church and then the Ventura Friends. They loved Quaker Meadow and they camped and worked at Quaker Meadow through the years, creating lifelong friendships.
In 2002, they relocated to Friendsview Manor in Newberg, Oregon where they reconnected with many friends and relatives. They loved everything about living at Friendsview.
Kati is survived by her 4 children, Lee Ann Stangl (husband Kenneth) of Nipomo CA, Sterling Ferguson of Ventura, CA, Jeffery Ferguson (wife Christine Meisenhelder) of Eagle Rock, CA, Suzanne Ferguson of Mendota Heights, MN.
Her 5 grandchildren are Anna-Lee Stangl Dozier of Washington DC, Kenna Jefferson of Newcastle, Australia, Joseph Stangl of Frankfurt, Germany, Mac Ferguson and Morgan Ferguson of Minnesota.
Great-grandchildren include, Eleanor, Lincoln, Burke Jefferson and Emanuel, Isaac and Samuel Dozier.
In lieu of an in-person memorial service, we are distributing, via internet, a beautiful video created by Jeff to friends and family who would enjoy seeing highlights of Kati’s life.
