Obituary of Iris Maxine Duffe

Iris Maxine Duffe, 98, passed away on January 20, 2022 in Portland, Oregon. Maxine was born in Muscatine, Iowa, to Fred and Thora Jackson on February 12, 1923. After graduating from high school, she worked for the bank in Muscatine as a bookkeeper. On January 15, 1944 she married Bernard (Duff) H. Duffe. They were married for 73 years until his death in 2017. For 65 of those years they lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Maxine was a homemaker that enjoyed participating in PEO, DAR, and volunteering at John Knox Presbytarian Church but her family was her first priority. Duff traveled the world for his work with Williams Brothers Pipeline and Maxine’s focus was on creating a home for them all. After the boys left for college, Maxine and Duff spent 2 years living in London, England, while Duff managed the WillBro office there. After Duff’s retirement, they took several trips abroad and across the U.S.

Maxine is survived by her sons, Bruce J Duffe (Debra) Hillsboro, OR, and Clark W Duffe, Edmond, OK. Grandchildren; Ian, Kristine, and Erin Duffe of Hillsboro, OR. Jackson and Laura Duffe of Edmond, Oklahoma. Brother, Gary Jackson of Muscatine, Iowa and many nieces and nephews from Florida to Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Christine (died in infancy) and her husband Bernard H. Duffe. Sisters NaDean Suttles and Jeannie Reiffert. Brothers Murray and Kendall Jackson all of the area near Muscatine, Iowa.

Per her request, there will be no service in Oregon. Both Duff and Maxine will be buried in Wilton, IA, with their daughter Christine.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an animal rescue organization or the ASPCA. Maxine loved all animals.
