Obituary of Thomas Hughes

Thomas Anthony Hughes (Tommy) passed away at age 85.  Thomas was born in Brooklyn to the late Edward and Alice Hughes.  He was a proud Catholic, New Yorker, Marine, and Georgetown University graduate.

 He married Doris Marie Quigley.  They raised four daughters. He had a long career with United Airlines followed by owning a Togo’s Sandwich shop where he and Doris hired and mentored local youth.

He was known for his love of family, work ethic, belief in the power of education, passion for sports (especially golfing with his grandchildren and his SFO Giants, 49ers, and Warriors), interest in politics, and his beautiful Irish smile.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 58 years, sister Margaret, brothers:  Edward (Pat), James (Wilma), and William (Pat) and Mary Catherine.

 Thomas is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Terry), Mary Alice (Doug), Maureen, Susan (Michael); his grandchildren: Cameron, Mitchell, William, Kevin, Anthony, Alicia, Dominick, Christian, Allyson and Savannah; his sisters: Mary (John), Patricia, Rosemarie (Carl), Ellen (James); his brother John, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial at Willamette National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Therese M. Hughes Family Scholarship care of Molly College, Rockville Centre, NY
