Obituary of Kathleen Haines
It was a wintery snowy day in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 11th 1947 when Kathleen was born. Her mother Helen Porter Jones and her father William Jones stared into her big beautiful brown eyes and her 4 brothers, Jerry, Dean, Lee and David, greeted their new sister.
Growing up, she loved helping people and making friends. She loved to bowl with her friends at the local bowling alley where she’d eventually watch her daughter follow in her footsteps. Her daughter, Michelle, was an only child but she was loved by all of Kathy’s friends. They say it takes a village to raise a child and that village would later be life long friends to both Kathy and Michelle. Her favorite color was purple and she made an effort to match her outfits with her jewelry everyday. You’d never catch her without her sparkly earrings and if you did, you knew she wasn’t feeling well.
After the many hardships both Kathy and Michelle endured in Iowa, they moved to California where they started a new life. Several years later, Kathy was blessed with her beautiful grandkids Mallory and Zackery. Kathy was a devoted grandmother to her grandkids. They went on many adventures together from the coast, to Mt. St. Helens to the wildlife safari. Her new job was to be the best grandmother she could be and she succeed everyday at that. A holiday never went by that they didn’t get several greeting cards in the mail from her. Some days she’d even bring them lunch at work just because she missed them.
Kathy could talk to anyone about anything. She was a well rounded woman with many life experiences and enjoyed sipping coffee with her friends at local restaurants for sometimes several hours. Everyone who met Kathy knew how kind and generous she was. The holidays were especially important to her, she always went out of her way to give her grandkids the most unique socks for every holiday and loved spending time with her family. Family was everything to her, there was no doubting her love and devotion to her family.
Kathy will be missed by many people near and far as she made an impact on so many lives. On December 26, 2021 Kathy took her last breaths and left her earthly body. Although her departure has broken the hearts of her family and friends, her years of pain and suffering are finally at an end as she dances in the clouds above us. With her mother, husband, brother, cousins and friends she’s lost over the years, she will be watching closely over her family and continuing to laugh with us in spirit. She is survived by her daughter Michelle and son in law Robert and her grandkids Mallory and Zackery.
