Obituary of Kenneth Delman McCorvey
Born Kenneth Delman McCorvey and always preferred to be called “Kenny”
Kenny was born February 27, 1958 in Portland, Oregon. He attended Highland (MLKing Jr.) and Vernon Elementary Schools. In 1976 Kenny graduated from Jefferson High School.
As a young child Kenny went to many fishing trips with his dad. And gained many different interests. And he was an avid Trail Blazer fan. While celebrating the championship win of our Portland Trail Blazers Kenny made the front page of the Oregonian in 1976, holding a can of Miller beer.
Kenny had many different interests. And was always ready for a new adventure. Kenny was trained volunteer firefighter and helped to fight forest fires in Oregon and California. He also worked in guest services for the memorial coliseum and many years ago Kenny did landscaping work. He was successful as a home cable installer for Paragon/Comcast cable for Portland, Oregon, Denver, Colorado and in California. Kenny also learned early on how to restore old boots. In His most recent employment endeavor Kenny was an independent contractor Shoe Shiner (K Shines). He worked with CrossPoint NW Dealer Auction and with a few other local car dealerships. Kenny also liked riding his bike, it kept him in shape. Kenny was definitely a people person. Two of the many catch phrases that would always make you remember Kenny “Like um” “Like um” & “What if I told You.” There was always a phrase that Kenny just happened to make his own. He would say to his nieces “I just love my nieces to pieces.”
Kenny was a great cook and loved family gatherings. Not only did he love cooking. He loved giving advice on how to cook and how to barbecue the right way. He kept a stocked freezer and full cabinets always ready to complete every meal. Whether he was with family or with friends it was obvious when Kenny was anywhere near. He would slam the dominoes down when scoring even if it was only five points. Kenny will be truly missed.
