Obituary of Leonard Francis Hays

Leonard “Len” Francis Hays

Len, age 83, passed away on September 27, 2021 in Portland, Oregon.  Len was born in Oakley Kansas to Leonard and Mildred Hays on February 8^th, 1938.  He went to North Salem High School and graduated in 1957.  He wrestled at North Salem and won the state championship his senior year.  He went on to attend and wrestle at Oregon State University, Portland State University, and earned a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from the University of Oregon Dental School.  Len was a Lieutenant in the US Navy where he practiced dentistry at Camp Pendleton, caring for marines as they prepared for Viet Nam.  He practiced dentistry in Salem, Oregon until he retired in 1995ish. 

Len is survived by his Wife Carol, of Milwaukie Oregon; sister E'stella Jean Johnson and husband Dale of Colorado; brother Terrell "Buz" Hays of Arizona; daughters Tracy Temple and husband Doug; Wendy Wilkins and husband Bryan; Son David Hays and wife Leanne; Son-in-Law Mark Thomas; grandchildren Jordan Wilkins, Erin Waibel, Rachel Temple, Jacob Wilkins, Brad Hays, Alcides Thomas, Bryan Hays, Larissa Lee, Leo Thomas, Elen Thomas, and 11 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Thomas.
