Obituary of Merlyn Hochstetler
Merlyn L Hochstetler born 4/24/1946 in Washington Iowa. The 9th child born to Ora J & Ollie L (Beckler) Hochstetler of Kalona Iowa. Merlyn passed on September 10th, 2021 at his home in Salem Oregon from a brain tumor. Merlyn graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School in 1964.
Merlyn married Regina Tuttle on August 29, 1970, in Frytown, Iowa. They had 3 daughters, Robin, Jacinda & Katrina. They divorced in 1992.
Merlyn married Viva Johnson on December 30, 1997, and they lived in Albany, Independence, and Salem until his passing.
Merlyn worked as a landscaper in Reno Nevada then for Willamette University in Salem Oregon for 20+ years and retired in April 2016. Before and after Merlyn retired he volunteered to do building and grounds maintenance at his church.
Merlyn was proceeded in death by his parents, 1 sister Pearl, 4 brothers Clyde, Leo, Paul & Harlan. He is survived by 1 brother Milford and sister Rosetta and his twin sister Myrna.
Celebration of Life is at The Church of Christ 1009 45th Ave. NE, Salem, Oregon Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
