Mick was a great support while I was learning to run my new business. Always a smile and story to share. So sorry to find out he's no longer with us.

Always liked running into Mick. We first met at an ice cream vendors convention around 2005. I had a crazy idea and he was one of the most receptive people there. I traveled a lot and looked forward to hitting Portland to chat with Mick. I always appreciated his entrepreneurial spirit and that he did things his own way. I'll miss you Mick

(It’s been 3 months since the funeral but I wish to say some words here.) I was only working at the Ice Cream Shop for only a few months with my boyfriend. Mick was the man who, even though he didn’t have a filter and says things how it is even when they are harsh, I respected and cared for. The few months I’ve gotten to see him and worked for him, it brought a smile to my face because I was working with a man so dedicated and caring of things he loved. The day we got news of his passing, it caused so much pain like I lost family. All I can hope for is that he’s happy and no longer in pain. Wherever you are, I hope you’re watching me, Shawn, Tamara, Henry and all of your loved ones. We miss you, Mick… thank you for being the best boss I ever had… Rest Easy.

Mick, you gave me my first real job, and in the years since taught me how to play pool, to work a pallet jack, drive an ice cream truck, and most importantly how to work hard. I’ve never seen someone care as much about something as you cared about your business. I’m glad I got to come back to Portland and have more time with you these past couple months. I’m trying my best to keep PICC, Future Pops, and the building up to your standards. I grew up on this street and it wouldn’t have ever been the neighborhood it is without all your hard work. Love you man, I know we’ll meet again.

There are many things we have admired about Mick. First is his love and appreciation for Katie. We will always remember his fun-loving, generous, and compassionate spirit. We honor a great Son-in-law and Uncle.
Much love, Your East Coast Relatives

Mick’s wife was my bestest friend from college, and she is still one of the loveliest people I’ll ever hope to meet. - In those years, I enjoyed some simply wonderful times at their home—“babysitting” Brandon, despite the fact he seemed wiser than me even at age 9-ish — Christmas Day when I was taught to respect Christmas Pudding while still finding it creepy and unsanitary, lol. But my favorite day with Mick was when I visited the Fish and Chip Shop when Katie wasn’t in town yet Mick spent the time to give me and my then-SO a personalized tour of all his businesses there on Killingsworth. He had just recently gotten excited about developing his own ice creams, and was so excited to pull us back into the inner-workings of PICC to show us his new equipment, tell us about the the flavors he was developing, and give us big cups of his delicious new inventions. - Such a fun day.

My best memory of Mick was when we all got together on the east coast with Bob and Helen, Sarah and Darsen and Jen and I. Mick rented a beautiful Mustang and took our kids for a ride that I knew better than to ask about. It made their day to go off with their Uncle Mick for an adventure without mom and dad around. He knew what made boys happy and gave them something special.
