Obituary of Gifford John Rye
Gifford John Rye died on July 31, 2021, in the home of a longtime friend surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born on December 12, 1945, the only child of John and Marjorie Rye
He leaves behind a daughter, Tracie, Grandson Nick, and stepchildren Tammy and Roger.
Giff loved fishing with the boys, playing cards, and the Oregon State Beavers.
Gifford graduated from Central high school in Independence and joined the Air Force, where he held the rank of Sergeant.
After the military, Gifford worked for Oregon State Correctional Institute for many years before going to work at the Oregon State hospital where he was employed for over 30 years before retiring.
A graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 1:00 pm and a celebration of life will be held at Diamond Lake June 14-17, 2022.
