KENNETH JACOB JOLMA

Canby—Kenneth Jacob Jolma, 92, passed away peacefully July 28, 2021 at Country Side Living, a memory care home, where he resided for nearly five years. He was born December 1, 1928 to Jacob Emmanuel Jolma and Tyyne Marie Paatalo in Clatskanie, OR. Ken was very proud of his Finnish heritage, being born to parents of full Finnish heritage. Ken graduated from Clatskanie High School and then honorably served as a GM2 in the US Navy from 1950-1953 on the USS Navasota, a replenishment oil tanker, during the Korean War Conflict. Upon discharge he attended Oregon Technical Institute and graduated as a mechanical electrician. Ken married Lorrayne Anne Jolma prior to enlisting in the Navy. They were married 61 years until her death in June 2016. Ken loved music and played the coronet in his high school band. He enjoyed camping with his family, boating and water skiing. He was a devout Christian and his love of music carried though to his passing. He loved tinkering with engines and completely restored a 1965 Dodge custom convertible, a source of pride. Ken, always the mechanic, worked in several automotive shops but found his calling with Hofmann Corporation where he spent the remainder of his career traveling the Northwest servicing and selling tire balancing machines. Ken spent his final years at Country Side Living memory care in Canby, OR. There he won the hearts of many caregivers with his smile, love of laughter and music, kindness and gentle soul. His family will be forever grateful for the loving care he received.

In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his wife Lorrayne Anne (Tervo) Jolma. Surviving are his daughter Lisa (Jolma) Potter and her husband Gary of Canby, son Kirk Jolma and wife Annette of Silverton, Oregon and Todd Jolma and wife Debra of North Plains, Oregon. Ken has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A military honor ceremony and internment will be held 10 am Wednesday, August 4 at Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements by Crown Memorial, Tualatin. A celebration of life will be held at Country Side Living, 390 NW 2nd Avenue, Canby OR on Friday, August 6 at 11 am where funny stories and “Ken-isms” will be shared and his favorite songs will be sung
