Obituary of Stephen Lane Crawford
Stephen Crawford was born June 20, 1950, in Arvin, CA, to Audrey and Stanley Crawford. Stephen lived in the Bay area until 2001, when he moved to Clackamas County, Oregon.
He was a hairdresser for more than 45 years, and had a personality that was larger than life. He was a natural story teller, performer and creative soul, a lover of small animals and great jewelry. He made friends out of strangers wherever he went — the doctor’s office, supermarket or neighborhood pet store — leaving laughter and joy in his wake.
He was a lover of all things Egyptian, and enjoyed displaying his large collection of ancient Egyptian art in his home. He had a green thumb and a flair for keeping houseplants alive. He shared his love for gem mining with his nephew Shane, digging for sapphires, garnets, and crystals, always hoping to find the next “big one.”
Stephen had a wicked sense of humor and theatrical style — his way of saying goodbye often involved a chivalrous kiss on the back of a friend’s hand. He was known for his kind heart, his deep faith and the twinkle in his eye.
Stephen passed away on July 10, 2021, at home in Gladstone, OR, a few weeks after turning 71. He is survived by his siblings Mike Crawford and Melanie Loucks; nieces Cindy, Kerry and Kristine; nephews, Mark, Shane and James; and many great nieces and nephews.
Service to be held at 10:00am August 7, 2021, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church; 14700 S.E. Rupert Dr., Oak Grove, OR 97267.
