Obituary of Carl Milton McDaniel
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Carl McDaniel, most recently of Albany, OR, of announces his passing after a four month fight against cancer on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the age of 59. Carl died at home with his wife, Janet, at his side. Born Carl Koenig, in Darmstadt, Germany, he was adopted by an American Air Force couple, Odice and Patricia (Dushane) McDaniel. Carl became a naturalized US citizen when he was 6 years old. Odice passed away soon after. Pat later married Norman Boyanovsky.
Carl enjoyed motorcycles, cars, camping, nature, gardening, video gaming, astronomy, cooking, science fiction, and all things Star Wars. He joined the Army when he was 19 and served for several years After the service, he worked many different jobs, including farm work, working in a packing plant, explosive sonic oil field exploration, welding/pipefitting, truck driving, appliance repair, and various construction jobs. Several back injuries lead to his early retirement.
In 1997, Carl met the love of his life, Janet (nee Blodgett,) Carl in fits of madness or true love asked Janet to marry him every day for over a year despite her having already accepted his proposal. They married in 1999 making Carl the step-father to 5 children aged 9 to 15. Though he never felt confident in his parenting skills all of the children loved him dearly. Carl adored his grandchildren happily accepting pet names such as Boogles and Stinky hat.
Carl is survived by his wife, Janet, step-sons Matthew Hosner (Gracie,) Andrew Hosner, Jeremy Hosner (Whisper,) and Alexander (Sharyn) daughter, Heather McNamara, grandchildren, Julia, Brayden, Emily, Kali, Amy, Lincoln, Elias, Alyson, Heaven, Justus, and Echo, mother, Patricia Boyanovsky, sister, Diane Kralicek, half-brother, Joe Boyanovsky, step-sisters Susan Patterson, Sandy Sylvester, Shari Middelstadt, step-brother Mark Boyanovsky, father -in-law, George Blodgett, mother-in-law, Mary Dimel,and his beloved cat, Tillie.
Carl is predeceased by his father, Odice. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Carl will be held July 30, 2021 Noon to 3 PM at Bryant Park, Albany, OR. In Lieu of flowers, please plant a tree.
