Obituary of Carol Larson
In loving memory of Carol Ann Larson
November 25th 1951 - June 12th 2021
Carol (Craig) Larson was born in Portland, OR on November 25th, 1951 to Anna and Max Craig. She graduated from David Douglas High School in 1970. She was briefly married to her high school sweetheart, Dwight Kooning, after high school. Their daughter, Andrea, was born in September of 1971.
Carol worked in many different job capacities. For 25 years she worked for Irwin Hodson Printing Company. For the past 7 years, she was employed by R. Davis Recycling.
Carol married Lauren Wright in 1982. They were later divorced. In 1991, she married Charles
(Chuck) Larson, a longtime friend, and they enjoyed a happy marriage until his death in 2014.
Carol was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and in December of 2020, she became a great-grandmother. She was also a beloved “mother figure” to some of her daughter’s friends, various co-workers and other people who were lucky enough to come into her life. Her daughter would describe her as a natural caregiver—always befriending someone who could use her advice or assistance. She continuously was ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her home was the heart of many memorable family and friend gatherings. A natural hostess and ardent coffee lover, Carol, from her hospice bed, was directing her daughter to see that the hospice nurses had coffee to drink as soon as they arrived for their visits.
Succinctly, Carol can be summed up as a woman whose love for her family and love for the Lord were the most important things in her life. She was a very down to earth person who had no qualms about “telling it like it is”. Never one to sugar coat anything but speaking the truth in love was her platform. She was funny too. We will really miss her wry wit.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Andrea Williams, her grandchildren, Ashley Bradley and Kiley Bradley,great-granddaughter, Brooklynne Ercig and her significant other and former husband, Lauren Wright.
Memorial service to be held at a later date.
