Obituary of Steven J Hofer
Steven James Hofer was born on December 19, 1950 in Portland Oregon, the youngest of two sons, to Bebee and Harold Hofer. He preferred to be called “Steve”. Steve passed away just after midnight on July 2, 2021 having suffered from AL Amyloidosis.
Following Steve’s graduation from Franklin High School in 1969, he attended Portland State University for a year before enlisting in the Air Force. During his 4-plus years of service he was initially trained as an X-ray technician but qualified for other medical registries before being honorably discharged in 1975. He worked for Emanuel Hospital in Portland for the next 40 years until his compulsory retirement in 2015. Steve was a respected worker, often being on-call 24 hours a day. He enjoyed driving new cars and wearing fine watches.
Steve is preceded in death by his father (1988), mother (2000), and his wife Lisa (2020). He is survived by his two children, Jeffrey A. Hofer and Lisa A. Reznick by a previous marriage to Carol Hofer, and by his older brother Bruce E. Hofer. Steve also leaves behind several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He will be deeply missed.
