Fern Lucille Johnson
July 29, 1923 – May 12, 2021
Heaven gained it’s newest angel. Fern was born in Helena, OK to Ord and Emma Hubbell. She was one of 7 children. The family moved to Oregon where they settled in the Sunny Crest area. Her father founded the current Church of Christ in Newberg, where she was a life long member. Her church and church family were a great love of hers. She never had an unkind word to say and loved dearly all that knew her. Her “hugs” were the absolute best.
In 1942 she had a son, Gary Douglas Johnson. Then, after waiting 18 years she had a daughter, Kristen Lynne and the following year, Karen Sue. Fern was employed for many years at the Vaughn Street Montgomery Wards, in Portland, OR.
In 1973 she moved, with her daughters, to Newberg, OR where she has resided ever since. Her family was, by far, her most precious asset. She had 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Daniel, Melissa, Jamie, Brian and Colton. She was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren.
Fern was proceeded in death by her son, Gary and grandson Daniel. Also proceeding her were her parents and siblings, Glen, Clarence, Norville, Bill and Marie Clark. She survived by daughter Kristen Nations (Ron) of Albany, OR, daughter Karen Beha (Chris) of Milwaukie, Or, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Johnson of Statesville, NC and sister Joyce Beals of Newberg.
A memorial service will be held at the Newberg Church of Christ on June 5th at 1:00 p.m. 2503 Haworth Ave.
