Obituary of Bob Saklofsky

Bob passed away at his home in The Springs, Sherwood surrounded by his family on March 26, 2021 at the age of 90.  Bob was born on April 26, 1930 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada to parents Fred and Mabel Saklofsky (McCrea).  Bob spent his youth on the family farm in the Prairies of Saskatchewan before moving to Kamloops, British Columbia at the age of 15.  He met his high school sweetheart Frances B. Eby at Kamloops High School and they married on August 29, 1953.  Bob was an avid baseball player and played for the Kamloops Okonots, a semi pro Baseball team for over 10 years and was President of the Club for several years.  Bob worked for a lumber buying firm in B.C. and eventually moved his family to Portland, OR in 1965 where he worked very successfully as a lumber wholesaler and Executive until he retired in 1995.  Bob’s grateful family remember him as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was a true friend to many and will always inspire those who knew him with his examples of kindness, generosity, love and his joy of life.  His laughter was infectious and will resonate with us always.  Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Frances, his children Brian (Stephanie), Lisa (Charlie), Alan and John and his three grandchildren who adored him Jessica, Jackson and Olivia.
