Leonard Schorzmann

January 1st, 1924 – April 19th, 2021

Long-Time Newberg resident Leonard Schorzmann passed away April 19th, 2021 at the age of 97. Leonard was a “New Year’s baby” born January 1st, 1924 in Lesterville, South Dakota to Albert and Martha Schorzmann. Leonard was raised in a big farm family of eight children.

He was drafted into the army in 1945 and spent some time in Japan after the atomic bombing. He worked repairing Jeeps and trucks in the motor pool.

Later he moved out to Oregon and eventually became a machinery oiler at the Newberg paper mill. He worked there until his retirement but also kept busy with activities including bowling, polka dancing camping and fishing, and he loved to cut firewood! He was very active in the local VFW and was well known for putting up the flags in Newberg for years. He also volunteered with meals on wheels and F.I.S.H.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 30th at 11:00 am at Valley View Memorial Park.
