Obituary of Richard Alfred Gonsalves
On March 17th, 2021, in his hometown of Salem Oregon, Richard Alfred Gonsalves joined his beloved wife, Jean Gonsalves in heaven. He is survived by his children Richard Adams, Sandra Reuss, Avis Adams, Joan Pye, Elizabeth Rapp, John Gonsalves, stepchildren Joshua Reed, and Jamie Wagner. Son-in-Laws Larry and John along with a wealth of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is beloved and cherished by all of us.
Richard Gonsalves was born on September 3, 1933, to Alfred Gonsalves and Margaret Fretina in Santa Rosa, California. As he was loved, so he loved. He will be reunited in heaven with his past loves and family of whom he had lost at an early age. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Owned and operated RGON Construction Company working with his Sons, Daughter, and beloved Nephew showing them the ropes. He was a proud IBT Teamster working as a Boiler Technician. He had an infinite love for all things motorized. In the early years, it was airplanes and boats, building them with his good friend. His excitement overflowed when he was rebuilding and restoring Vintage Cars. Motorcycles held a special place with him whether it be Off-Road or On, Harley being at the top of his list. A favorite past-time was taking family and friends to the Oregon Sand Dunes. If you weren’t big enough to handle a bike he would custom build one making it a family affair.
There is no doubt that Richard is making everyone laugh in heaven right now with his jokes and stories. As much as we will miss hearing them all here in person they live on in each one of us now. These jokes and stories bellied a heart of gold! There was truly nobody that Richard didn’t love with all his being.
A truly beloved individual, Richard will be sorely missed. We love you Pops, AKA Zack Thank you for the ride.
