Obituary of Mary Helen McFeeters

Mary Helen Uhlemann McFeeters

January 10, 1927 – February 27, 2021

Mary was the youngest child born to Ludwig Uhlemann and Engla Conrad in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was working as a switchboard operator at the National Biscuit Company when she met Guy S. McFeeters, Jr., whom she married on February 23, 1951. They moved from Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania to Flower Mound, Texas to be near their grandchildren in 1986.

Mary was a great entertainer, a fabulous cook, a remarkable bridge player, and a great friend to many in Pittsburgh, Texas, and Portland.  Most of all she was a caring mother, loving wife and devoted homemaker.  She always looked for the positive in life and refused to dwell on the negative. After she lost her husband in 1990, she spent her time doing volunteer work, providing after-school care for her granddaughters, socializing with her dear friends, and playing bridge.

In 2015, her daughters in Oregon convinced her to move cross-country to be with them.  She lived the remainder of her life there, playing bridge, making new friends, and spreading her grandma charm on another set of grandchildren who adored her.

She is survived by her children Virginia (Jack) Scanlon of Beaverton OR, Bill (Rody) of Lewisville, TX, Bob (Sue) of Columbia MD, and Amy (Dave) McFeeters-Krone of Portland OR. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Kelly (Chad) Mason, Katie (Dave) Kinder, Melissa (Shaun) McFeeters, Guy, Abby, Grant and Rachel McFeeters-Krone, and three great grandsons, Miles and Brennan Mason and Landon Kinder.

Mary passed away peacefully with her family around her. For those who loved her, their memories of her will be a comfort.  There will be no service.  She will be buried with her husband in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a future date.
