Obituary of Penelope Lee Luckenbaugh

Penelope (Sawyer) Luckenbaugh

Feb. 26, 1939- Jan. 30, 2021

Penelope (Penny) Luckenbaugh passed away on Jan. 30 from complications of COVID-19.

Penelope Lee Sawyer was born in Spokane, WA in 1939, and moved to Portland, OR with her family as a young child. She was a 1956 graduate of Grant High School and attended Oregon

State University. Penny married Merle Luckenbaugh in 1958, and they eventually settled in the

Laurelhurst neighborhood, where they raised their three daughters.

Penny had endless energy and enjoyed working for many years as a sales rep. She liked nothing better than to be out and about, meeting new people and old friends. She had many interests, including cooking, decorating, and jewelry making, and she pursued her passions to the end. She was also an avid reader, and she passed on her love of reading to her children and grandchildren. She touched the lives of many, in both big and small ways, and will be

greatly missed.

Penny was preceded in death by her husband Merle and her daughter Pamela Lynch. She is

survived by her daughters Amy Ridabock (Mark Tsakistos) and Elizabeth Lynch (George),

son-in-law Thomas Lynch, granddaughters Ashley McCormmach (Scott), Margaret Ridabock,

Molly Lynch, Emily Hardiman (Kyle), Hannah Figueroa (Melila), Abigail Lynch, grandson Tommy

Lynch, and great-grandchildren Jameson Lynch and Hadley Hardiman. She is also survived by

her loving partner of several years, Pete Clarkson, and her best friend of almost 60 years,

Marguerite Matusak.
