Obituary of Jean Ann Lauer

Jean Ann Lauer, 69, of Portland, Oregon, formerly of Prospect, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021, at her home after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Jean was born on March 18, 1951, to John Henry Lauer,  Jr. and Louise Elizabeth “Betty” (Caudill) Lauer in Marion, OH. She was a 1969 graduate of Elgin High School, graduating third in her class. She also attended The Ohio State University.

Jean moved to Oregon in 1977 and lived there for the remainder of her life. She worked as a marketing director for Pepsi Bottling of Oregon for several years and was employed by Comcast for over 15 years. Jean loved spending time at the Oregon coast. She loved to snow ski and fish for salmon.  She was a voracious reader, had a tremendous appreciation for all types of art and music, loved tending her orchids and other plants, and had a special place in her heart for animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jean is survived by her three siblings, Mary Lou Lauer of Peoria, AZ, Greg Lauer, and Scott Lauer both of Waldo, OH; nieces Annie (Scott) Kiener, Lacey (Nick) McKenzie, and Taylor (Alex) Kaszer; great-nieces Larkin and Wren Kiener, and great-nephew Jack McKenzie; former husband Christopher Burskey; and her beloved kitty, Bing.

Per her request, there will be no formal memorial service or visitation. Her ashes will be scattered along the Oregon coast. Donations can be made to Legacy Hospice of Portland in her honor.

Special thanks go out to Legacy Hospice of Portland, OR. Also a very special thanks to her dear friend Jole McMurdie.
