Obituary of Janice Kaye Rood
On Friday, January 15, 2021, Janice Kaye Rood, loving life partner and loving mother of four children and six grandchildren, passed away at her home at the age 65. Janice was born on April 18, 1955 in La Jolla, California to Robert K. Burke and Beverly G. Daniels. She received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Mental Health and Human Services. Janice was passionate about her work with families and students, both as a Family Skills Worker and as a Paraeducator, working with children with special needs.
Janice’s love was being a mother and grandmother and spending time with her family. She enjoyed the ocean, history, gardening, reading, writing and music. She was cherished for her insightful listening and unconditional love for each of her family members. Janice was preceded in death by her father, Bob, her mother, Beverly, her sister, Cheryl, and her daughter in-law, Molly. She is survived by her husband Jeff, her four sons and their partners, Jason (Laura), Jeffrey (Irina), Joshua (Kate) and Jeremy (Solen), as well as her six grandchildren, Mischa, Quentin, Burke, Senna, Ryder and Avery. Janice’s surviving brothers and sisters are Charles, Valerie, Elmer, Laurie,Tom, Bob, Beth, and Lisa.
Her grandchildren most loved and will miss these activities with their grandma...playing rock, paper, scissors and enjoying her tuna fish sandwiches, drinking ice tea, going to the zoo, OMSI, staying in hotels, gardening, braiding each other’s hair, walking to the corner store, playing Monopoly, going to the coast, and making blueberry pancakes with blueberries from her backyard.
There will be no funeral services as per Janice’s wishes. Donations may be sent to SnowCap Community Charities, 17788 SE Pine St., Portland, OR 97233.
