Obituary of Margaret Ann Butters
On January 17, 2021, my beautiful wife and best friend passed away at the age of 67. Her death was due to an aggressive form of cancer and she died peacefully at home.
Peggy was born in Portland, Oregon on February 25, 1953, and moved to Salem in 1966. She was a 1971 graduate of North Salem High School where she met her husband, and they were married in 1973. Peggy and her husband spent the first three years of their marriage getting to know each other in the middle of the Nevada desert as her husband was stationed at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada. She then moved back to Salem with her husband in 1973 and soon started as a Claims Processing Clerk at the State Farm Regional Center in Salem. Peggy continued to work for State Farm for 41 years eventually retiring in November 2018 as a Claims Specialist. Peggy was a people person who took pride in her role as she worked with both agents, customers, and fellow State Farmworkers.
Peggy’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She spent many nights at concerts, plays, sporting events as she supported each one. Her husband loved the way she put the grandchildren first and would not have had it any other way. She looked forward to each summer’s camping trips, trips to Disneyland, Las Vegas, and local casinos as she said that just sitting at a slot machine pushing a button and getting free drinks was her favorite form of relaxation.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Brian, two daughters, Melissa Rodea, Nicole Coburn, and her husband Frank. Her grandchildren Gillian, Justine, Brian, Joey, and Arianah. She is also survived by her brother Johnny, and sisters Patricia, Donna, Dorothy, and Theresa.
Peggy will be buried at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem, Oregon in a private family ceremony. An online Celebration of Life for Peggy will be conducted in February.
