Obituary of Deborah Jene Scheibe

Deborah J. Scheibe (Kuntz) went to be with our Lord January 11, 2021.  She treasured her last days at home during the holidays under Hospice care for pancreatic cancer with her immediate family, all the Dobermans and family friends by her bedside.   

Debbie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 6th, 1950, to Sylvester Maximillian and Anne Elizabeth Kuntz (Ferguson).  Debbie was the youngest of 6 children, including; Shirley May Kuntz, Anne Elizabeth Miller, Sylvester Maximillion Kuntz III, Rosemarie Moletz and Karyn Myers.  Debbie is proceeded in death by her sisters Shirley, Anne and Rosemarie.

Debbie graduated from Shaler Area High School in Glenshaw PA in 1968. She married young and raised two children, Dawn D Danner (1969) and Darrell D Danner Jr (1972)  to ex-husband Darrell D Danner Sr.,  before attending  trade school for Electrician training in the mid 1980s.  In typical Debbie fashion, she perused this career path when it was primarily a male dominated field.  Being the only female student didn’t stop her, and she graduated with honors amongst her young male classmates.  Debbie was absolutely determined to succeed as the sole provider for her family. Her children were always her priority!

With degree in hand, Debbie started work in the service department of Westec Security.  Swing shift phone work led her to numerous  interactions with service technicians from around the country including Hank Scheibe of Jacksonville, Florida.   One thing led to another and before you knew it, Hank was driving to Pittsburgh for a visit and, well, the rest is history!  

Debbie married her lifelong love Henry J. Scheibe July 29, 1989. Together they moved the family to Portland, Oregon in 1990.    The Pacific NW offered many advancements over the years, including job opportunities at Safeguard Security and Protection One.   Like her daughter Dawn, the animal connection was strong, and Debbie decided to purchase Home Alone Professional Pet Care in 1995.  Over the next 25 years, Debbie enjoyed taking care of her dear clients and their amazing pets.   She shared in their ups and downs and cried when they lost their furry friends.  Debbie loved being a business owner and setting her own rules and as a result, Home Alone grew exponentially over time!  She truly enjoyed her work EACH and EVERY day. 

In her spare time, Debbie LOVED working in her greenhouse and was a member of the Oregon  Master-Gardener Association.  She was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for 20 years of Exceptional Service in Washington County in 2013!  Debbie’s roses and orchids are a true testament to her passion. Today, her son Darrell carries on in her footsteps with his green thumb!

Debbie is survived by her husband Hank Scheibe, her daughter Dawn Danner and her son Darrell Danner. The Dobermans who continue to look for her include Epic, Cross, Abbi and Checkers!

When I must leave you for a little while
