Obituary of Theresa Katherine Raschko Sohm
Theresa Katherine Raschko Sohm was born on November 5, 1913 in Lefor, North Dakota and died in the Lord Jesus on February 6, 2010 at the age of 96 in Sun City, California. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Michael Raschko and Katherine (Mixner) Raschko of Lefor, North Dakota. She was raised in Lefor and had fond memories of going to daily Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, walking between her parents each holding her hand feeling secure and happy. Theresa married Steve E. Sohm on May 18, 1934 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND. They had two children, Carol Ann and Frederick Michael. The family moved to Butte, Montana in 1941 and then to Salem, Oregon in 1950. Theresa worked for J.C Penney Co. in the drapery department for 5 years and then started her own business: Custom Made Drapery’s. She was an accomplished and successful business woman for 20+ years. Theresa was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, especially in the Altar Society. She had many friends and loved to play bridge, garden, sew, and visit. Steve passed away on June 25, 1993 at the age of 86. She looked forward to her son, Fred’s, weekly visits and always enjoyed his company. Theresa lived alone and managed to her own affairs until October 30, 2008 when she moved to Sun City, CA to live with her daughter, Carol Ann. She is survived by Carol Ann Sohm of Sun City, CA and Fred Sohm of Portland, OR. Marlene Krebs, Dr. Michael Raschko, Patrick Raschko, John Raschko, Leslie Raschko and many other nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 12, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1015 Columbia Street NE, Salem, with viewing beginning at 10:00. A private family interment will take place at Belcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Salem.
