Obituary of Gaynor Alice Moynihan
Gaynor Alice Moynihan was born in Tacoma, Washington on July 9th, 1927, to Peter Soraghan & Alice Ziegler Soraghan She passed away on 12/15/20 in her home, as it was her wish to be at home and surrounded by her family. Growing up, she attended St. Ann's parish in Tacoma, Lincoln High School, and Tacoma Catholic junior college (for ladies).
As a young adult, she moved to Laguna Beach, Ca, along with a couple of girlfriends. This is where she met and married John T. Moynihan in 1956. In 1957, they moved back to the PNW, settling in the Great City of Roses, Portland, OR where she remained for the next 60 years.
Gaynor then worked at Portland State University and retired after 30 years. She attended The Madeline Parish where, after retirement, she volunteered at both The Grotto and Madeline. During the summers, she traveled to visit family members in both Switzerland and Greece with her long-time childhood friend Frieda Bostwick, a life-long dream of both. She had always meant to make it to Ireland. ♧♧♧
Children: Kathleen Moynihan, (PDX) Tim and Cathy Moynihan, (Rio Dell Mar, Ca) Shamus Moynihan, (PDX) Sean and Tavia Moynihan, (PDX) - 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her sister, Marrian Hinkley, Seattle Wa. Survived by her sister Joanne (Dan) Beattie of Dana Point, CA. Along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid, the service will be held at Calvary Cemetery (Tacoma, Washington) at a later date.
