Obituary of Beverly Patrice Myles

Beverly Patrice Blackwell Myles was born to the late James Edward & Mary Magdaline Kirksey Blackwell on November 8th, 1952.  Our Lord, Christ and Savior sent His angels to bring her home on December 4th, 2020.

Beverly was born in Anniston, Alabama.  In the mid-1950’s when she was a toddler, her family moved to Los Angeles, California where she lived until she retired.  She is the eldest daughter and the second of four siblings.

Growing up, Beverly went to school all throughout the Los Angeles area.  After high school, she attended Trade Technical College where she picked up the skills that secured her 36 year career with the Southern California Gas Company finishing as a Lead Customer Contact Representative.  In school, Beverly developed her interests in photography and a love for the violin.  She also enjoyed cooking, playing tennis and bicycle riding.  Beverly loved to sew, embroider and create gifts using the needle and thread arts.  She was an accomplished seamstress making most of her own clothing, gowns, mens suits, women’s lingerie, winter coats, purses and even large stuffed animals.

In 1972, Beverly married Edwin Tatum Myles and together, they had one son, Derrick LaMart Myles who was the light of her life.  Through Derrick, she was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She spent many years providing for her family and taking care of her mother.  Home and family were Number One to her.  In 2017, Beverly retired and shortly thereafter, moved to Portland, Oregon to be with her son and family.  She loved the smell of rain and would often get excited during thunder and lightning storms.  During her time in Portland, she experienced new adventures such as camping and white- water rafting.  She also pursued her embroidery much more, creating elaborate and colorful pieces.

Beverly is survived by her son, Derrick LaMart Myles (Ericka), grandsons DJ Asula, Magic Myles (Aundrea), Charles LeBlue, Keshawn Myles and granddaughter Chiara Myles.  Great grandchildren include Charlee, Magic Jr., Ka’Miyah and Rayvin, all of Portland, Oregon.  Siblings include Andrei LaMart Blackwell of Jacksonville, Alabama and Carolle Denise-Blackwell Phillips (Larry) of Grand Canyon, Arizona.  Beverly is preceded in death by her brother Nigel Kenneth Blackwell.

Our extended family of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends join us in missing such a devoted, loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Beverly, you will truly be missed.

Rest in Peace, Love, and Glory
