Obituary of Walter Merle Parry
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Walter Merle Parry of Portland, Oregon on the evening of November 5th, 2020 at Providence Hospital. He had just celebrated his 48th birthday.
Walter was born at Legacy Emanuel Hospital on November 1, 1972, and was the youngest of two siblings. Growing up, he gained a lot of knowledge through his experiences, and just like many of us, he had his struggles too. He enjoyed traveling and taking road trips without a destination in mind. He loved gathering with friends and family for all occasions. He was a hard worker and was committed to giving his all each day. That determination earned him many leadership roles throughout his career. He enjoyed people and hearing about their journeys. Building friendships came with such ease for him. People were drawn to his wonderful personality, his generosity, his confidence, and sense of humor. To know him, you instantly adored him. He touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed.
His deepest love was for his two children – LaKeisha and Alekanekelo. With a 15-year age difference separating them, he often talked about his growth as a parent within himself. He was someone they could talk to about anything. Early morning messages or late-night phone calls – he was always there. Walter was his daughter’s best friend, and his son’s number one fan. To them, he was a leader, an exemplar, a confidant, a teacher, a hero, and a friend. He lit up with such pride when speaking about his children and would share stories about them to whoever was around. He was a remarkable father. Extraordinary. Wonderful. Unforgettable…...in every way.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Linda, and her husband Daryell. His beautiful sister, Debbie Crawford, and her children Jennifer, Alex, and Carter who reside in southern Oregon. His childhood friend whom he considered a brother, Daniel Clark, and his entire family. He has two beautiful granddaughters, Harmony Rose and Safara Kehlani - and he was a beloved Uncle to countless nieces and nephews. There were so many who loved and cared for him so deeply. His soulmate was Kahuanani – the mother of his son. They met in 2004 and were the best of friends throughout the years. There was an unconditional love between the two of them.
There will be a memorial held at a future date and time due to current events. Please share memories or leave messages of love if you so choose.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
