Obituary of Theodore William Marx Jr.

Ted W. Marx Jr.

Ted W. Marx Jr, an active member of St. Pius X and Madeleine parish died unexpectedly at his home September 17. He was 79.

Born in Mt Angel, Oregon in 1941, he was raised in Portland and attended St. Rose School and Central Catholic High School. After attending both Oregon State and the University of Oregon he met and married Wauneta Marilyn Stringer in 1964. They lived in Portland for 47 years before retiring on their family farm in Hubbard, Oregon.

Mr. Marx worked for years as the owner of Electromatic Inc in Portland, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Albina Rotary Club, an Elk’s member, Eucharistic minister, Eagle Scout and coached youth sports for all his children.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, he is survived by his children Ted Marx III, Todd and Alice Gydesen and Joe Marx all residing in the Portland area.  Also surviving are siblings, Marcella Christoff, Sacramento, Californina; Patty Marx of Redmond, Oregon; Donna Marx of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Dorothy Pittman of Portland; and six grandchildren (Arisa Marx, Joe Gydesen, Brock Gydesen, Brett Gydesen, Sam Marx and Sophia Marx).

Due to the global pandemic, an intimate family service will be held on Saturday September 26th at the Marx family farm, officiated by Monseigneur Tim Murphy.

Pending on restrictions due to the Covid virus, a celebration of life is planned in May to commemorate his 80th birthday, May 4th.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Catholic High School.
