Obituary of Clint Berneau
Clinton Jay Berneau was born on a summer day, June 19, 1941, in Peru, Kansas, the only child of William and Doris Berneau. Almost lost in a winter white out at the age of 6, they moved to states that would never present that hazard again.
Clint attended schools in Texas and New Mexico. He joined the Navy, serving as a gunner’s mate on the USS Twining and the USS Arnold J Isbell. This led him to meet his sweetheart, Carole Gardner, in June of 1961, at Paradise on Mt. Rainier. They married in December of 1961 and were best friends and sweethearts until he passed. On Wednesday, September 2, 2020 he was called to be with our Heavenly Father.
He worked for General Motors for 35 years, for a majority of that time he was a service manager. He was well respected, earning many trips (Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Disney World and more) for his success in management and dedicated service. He served for many years as President of the “Only the Best” club for General Motors Service Management.
To Clint, family was everything, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Everyone loved Papa! In his last months he wanted to be home and surrounded by family.
He taught by example. He worked hard and played hard. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren how to fish, ride motorcycles, drive, bbq, build bonfires on the beach, cook smores at the campfire, and so much more .
He was a fierce and loyal friend. Though quiet and reserved, he observed so much and lived life to the fullest. Clint and Carole traveled a lot and enjoyed every minute of it.
Clint is and will continue to be missed by his family and friends. He is predeceased by his grandson William Scott Berneau II, a daughter-in-law Jan Berneau, and his parents William and Doris Berneau. He is survived by his sweetheart, Carole Berneau, children William (Pam) Berneau, Cheri (Steve) McDonnell, Aaron (Karie) Berneau, Christine (Bryan) Hutchison, 16 grandchildren and their spouses, and 17 great grandchildren.
