Obituary of Dorothy Louise Leben
Dorothy Louise ‘Hatfield’ Leben, 91 years old and most recently of Rhododendron, Oregon
passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 surrounded by family and in the home of her granddaughter.
She was born on the 1st of December, 1928 in Salem Oregon to Alex Pinkman Hatfield and Lula Mable ‘Sewell’ Hatfield (Overholt). She was the ninth child of eleven children, having seven brothers and three sisters. She married Loren Lawrence Leben on the 5th of May in 1951 at the age of 22 and together they had five children.
Dorothy loved the outdoors, camping and fishing until her 90th year of life. She spent at least the last fifty years with a special fondness for Timothy Lake. You could find her for weeks on end throughout most every summer spending quality time with her family, either swimming in and or fishing on this special “little ‘peace’ of heaven on earth”.
She is survived by her sister Doris Hayes, her daughter Karen Louise Leben, her son Steven and daughter in law Lisa, her son Allen and daughter in law Maria, her youngest son Carl Leben and son David's widow, Cathryn Leben. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shawna King, Larry Loose, Tyler Leben, Brian Loose, Justin Fearneyhough, Chris Leben, Misty Freeman, Amie Leben, Jeremiah Leben and Joshua Leben. She is survived by her great grandchildren Lauren King, Ashtien King, Chris Loose, Jesse King, Joshua Fearneyhough, Gabriel King, Rose Fearneyhough, Elycia (Elle) King, Riley Leben, Alex Fearneyhough, Nicholas Fearneyhough, Maddy Freeman, David Loose, Molly Freeman, Brock Freeman and little Liam Leben. She is also survived by her two great great grandchildren Iris King and Ryder King.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her oldest son David Leben, nine of her siblings and her ex husband Loren. The family will be spreading Dorothy’s ashes where they spread her eldest son David’s, in early September.
For those of you wishing to honor her life, you are invited to send a live plant such as a Fuchsia (one of her favorites) to the family, in lieu of flowers, and it will be planted in her remembrance.
We would also like to thank Hospice for their wonderful services to Dorothy and her family when they were so very necessary.
