Words can't describe how much I miss you Bob. I wish I could see you and give you a big hug. You've always meant so much to me and everyone you've ever met. You've been an amazing part of my life from my childhood to adulthood. Some of my favorite memories of you is of when I was little and we went to the Oriental Theater in Milwaukee, WI to see movies or listening to classical music together or watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Spending a month with you and Kenton when you both lived in Taos, NM. When we went to the 100th anniversary of the Titanic exhibition and looked at all of the items recovered. When we went to the top of the Stratosphere and looked all over Vegas and when we went to Hollywood to Grauman's Chinese Theater. I think of you all the time and miss hearing your voice. I love you Bob.

I'm still finding it very difficult to accept that Bob has passed from this life. Robert would not want me to grieve, so I'm trying to have my tears be those of happiness, affection and prideful memories of our time together. My big brother Bob was always there for our family, and especially me, through the best of times, and the trying times. Certainly not a surprise for all who knew Robert, his wholesome heart, his unquestionable, loving kindness for family and friends. Far too many fond memories to share, but several stand out. Truly great memories include, our family visits to Washington DC and the Pentagon, when Bob was serving in the Air Force, and especially to Hawaii when he settled into his remarkable civilian life. When back in Kenosha, Bob often took me to Milwaukee and Chicago to enjoy shows, museums, restaurants and parks, mostly being that caring big brother trying to keep his little sister out of mischief. Bob was always so much fun and exciting to be around. However, the greatest joy was when we lived together in Hawaii and shared the sun, beaches, and great friends. Later when we were back in Kenosha, Bob became the best Uncle that my son Henry could ever hope for. He continued his enthusiasm for life, leading by example, sharing his affection, time and travel with Henry and I, including visits to Diamond Head, Tacos, Las Vegas and Hollywood. Even when we couldn't be together, with Bob being an such an avid movie watcher, book-worm, and music aficionado, Henry and I so enjoyed our long phone calls centered on these experiences. Obviously, Bob was a man of immeasurable character.
I am so proud of my Brother, a fantastic son, a carpenter, a Vietnam veteran, a world-traveler, an artist, a man of culture, a photographer, a businessman, an athlete, an outdoors man, a minister of kindness, a homemaker, and a funster. But most of all as my friend and big brother. Bob was a rare individual, so smart, compassionate, knowledgeable, imaginative, diligent, creative, yet so laid back as a clever, fun-loving, free spirit with a tireless zest for life, who could and will keep me mesmerized forever.
Bob shared his life with so many people, Most important was his loving partner and soul-mate, Kenton. Kenton completed Robert, they were a tremendous duo together. I am very thankful that Kenton made Bob so happy throughout the many years they were together. Bob was fortunate to have Kenton through "thick and thin", and I am forever grateful for all his loving efforts.
My love for my Brother will never pass! I already miss Bob more than can be imagined, but he is in my heart and soul, and I will cherish our beautiful memories forever. I know it was time for Bob to leave his worn-out body. It is very hard to let go of Bob in this life, however, I look forward to that great day when we will reunite with the rest of our family, by the grace of God!
On Bobs families behalf, I would like to thank all the friends, doctors, nurses and caregivers that assisted in Roberts care.
Love you always, and rest in peace Robert!
Your loving sister, Shirley May

I had only the pleasure of meeting sweet Robert In person a few times. Kenton has been a dear friend of mine since I was 19 and we were living in Milwaukee. Over the years, I got to know Robert over the phone and his goodness and sweetness came through loud and clear. I knew he was good to Kenton and they had a home full of love, compassion, mutual support and respect. I loved him because he made my Kenton happy and when I finally did actually meet him on a trip to Las Vegas..I KNEW I loved him. His sweet gentle nature, his sense of humor, the way he would be so loving to Kenton. Kenton is probably one of the most loving and compassionate and devoted men I know. He proved that every day as Robert was suffering and slowly surrendering to that horrible Alzheimer’s. Patient and kind always and putting Roberts needs and wants above all. That’s TRUE love. I am so proud of of my dear friend and sorrowful at the same time because I know his grief is deep. However, I am happy that Robert is once again free and healthy. No longer are the shackles of Alzheimer’s keeping him from his joy. He will always be with us. He is but a thought away and we keep him in our hearts.
I Was fortunate enough to visit Portland in January when Robert was at his memory care facility. Robert was in rare form that day and it was a lovely visit. So glad I made that trip❤️

Robert was my friend. We could sit and talk for hours and never be bored. He loved to have fun so I posted pics from our time in display at Marshall Fields. (A backyard party and a retro bowling party)
He was the nicest person to everyone! Never talked down to anyone, remembered details about everyone, and took constant teasing from all of us.
I LOVED HIM. I will always love him.

Robert will be greatly missed! We were lucky enough to get to know him the past eight years he lived in Portland, Oregon. We spent many memorable holidays with him and Kenton.

From Milwaukee, Taos to Las Vegas, Robert, the memories we shared together will live in my heart forever. I'll never forget the stories you told that had us laughing all night long (nothing I'd repeat here). I'll miss you Uncle Robert and will honor your memory by cooking the ones I love delicious food and keep them all laughing, like you did.
All my love, Chad

"I always get to where I'm going by walking away from where I have been." by Christopher Robins
Robert's favorite saying, reminds me of the picture of him walking in the fog.
After knowing my Lover, my Best Friend and my Guiding Spirit for 35 years, it is hard to say, "Goodbye." I know he will always watch over me as he made me laugh, and, showed me how to have a good time. Robert was never afraid of anything and everything was an adventure to him. He could find excitement in the simplest things. He loved the woods, the water and, he loved our cat Mickey.
Robert was always ready together with friends and had a good time. He was kind, sweet and never had a bad word to say about anybody, he truly had the soul an Angel. So many stories to tell about Robert, I wouldn't even know where to begin.
I will miss my Bobby, terribly. But again, I know he will always watch over me.
Through the tears, and the laughter and the many stories I am reminded of, he is the type of person that truly cannot be replaced.
Enjoy yourself, now that you are comfortable and run, ride your bike, and play with Mickey. Enjoy the loved ones that went before you.
You will always have a special place in the hearts of all the knew you. With all my Love and Affection, I will never forget you.
Kenton Aemmerson-Smith - "Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in you heart."
