Obituary of Janet Louise Carmichael
Janet Louise Carmichael, 82, of Keizer, Oregon, passed away on August 2, 2020, from COPD complications. Janet was born on October 4, 1937, in Forest Grove, Oregon. Janet met her husband Tom (Thomas) Carmichael in January 1958 when he was attending Pacific University in Forest Grove and Janet was waiting tables at a local diner. Janet and Tom married in May 1958 and spent over 62 years together. Janet and Tom were blessed with four children, Deborah Cox, David Carmichael, Tina Campbell and John Carmichael, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom’s time in the service and retail management jobs had the family traveling all over the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado, until Tom and Janet finally settled down in Keizer, Oregon in 1985. Janet was the glue that kept the family together, raising the children, shopping, making meals, gardening, writing birthday cards, keeping up on family events, paying the bills, and generally just keeping the family organized. In her healthier days, Janet loved bowling, fishing, camping, sewing, baking, and playing Bingo.
Janet is survived by her husband, Tom Carmichael of Keizer, Oregon; two daughters, Deborah Cox of Keizer, Oregon and Tina Campbell (John) of Tequesta, Florida; two sons, David Carmichael (Lisa) of Snohomish, Washington and John Carmichael of Keizer, Oregon; brother Harry “Bud” Jeys of Eugene, Oregon; and her children’s and siblings’ children. Janet is predeceased by her sister, Rosemarie Sellers, and has joined her in heaven with their parents, George and Florence Jeys.
Janet is loved and will be missed by her family and friends. In light of COVID-19, a celebration of Janet’s life will be held by Zoom on August 8, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. PST. If you are interested in attending, please contact Deborah Cox at seattlerain3002@gmail.com.
