Obituary of Paul Herman Vigansky
Paul Herman Vigansky died unexpectedly at age 48 on May 21, 2020.
Paul was a vibrant, kind, and generous person who touched many who knew him in some incredible ways.
Paul was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and grew up in Indian Rocks Beach and Largo, Florida where he graduated from Largo High School. He spoke frequently of his time in Florida and retained keen cooking skills from his time working in a restaurant kitchen in Indian Rocks beach during high school.
Paul served his country for six years in the US Navy on the USS Arkansas. He backpacked around the US following his time in the Navy and cut semi-precious stones for a while in Arizona before moving to Oregon. He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University in 2007 and went on to design transmission lines for numerous utility companies around the country with Triaxis Engineering and David Evans & Associates. In the workplace, Paul was known for his attention to detail, his strong work ethic, his dedication, and his keen sense of humor.
Paul was raised primarily by his mother, who instilled many great attributes in Paul; devotion to loved ones, a sensitive and resourceful nature, and the ability to sew, cook and keep a clean house, all characteristics that made him a fabulous son and husband. At home, his wife referred to him as her 'MacGyver' for his resourcefulness and ingenuity and his ability to fix anything.
Paul and his wife were avid dancers and visited dance venues around the country. Paul touched many people he met with his humor, authenticity, and generosity. He also had a gentleness and grace not often found in one of his statures, 6',8". He told it like it was and had a way of helping people see their own potential. He had a wise spirit and his presence and phenomenal hugs will be missed by all who knew him.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Franz Vigansky. Paul is survived by his wife, friend, and partner; Ginnie Vigansky; his mother, Joan Catanzaro of Lander, WY; his brother, Dan, and his family of Clinton, UT; and brothers, Alex, Eric and Justin of WI and IL. He also is survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins living in WI, PA, IL, OH, and AZ.
Paul was very supportive of his wife's career as a teacher. He made many personal contributions to her work with children. If you would like to help continue Paul's legacy please consider donating to his wife's school http://crmontessori.org/contribute/donate/.
