Melanie (George) Abernathy

Obituary of Melanie Christine (George) Abernathy

Melanie Christine George Abernathy was born May 15, 1951 in Long Beach, California to her parents Frederick Edward George Jr. and Rosalee Catherine Stewart George. Melanie was the first of 7 children and numerous foster children that were blessed to live in this home.  She went home to heaven May 20, 2020 in the early morning. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents that she loved and played with in her early youth and her sister, Milinda, who also passed away recently. She was blessed with 5 children of her own, Katherine “Katie”, Robert “Rob” (Beth), Ronald “Ron” (Keyowna) Russell “Russ” and Kristina “Tinie”, whom she loved and nurtured throughout her time with them. She was also blessed with and enjoyed her 20 grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren. She met and married her soulmate, Joe Abernathy, and together they lived in Texas, Idaho, and Oregon, were she resided at the time of her death. Melanie has loved and help many others in her life. She accepted many other children into her home and cared for them as family.  She loved to sing and could play any instrument by ear, a talent she had from early childhood. Once you were part of her life, she would love you unconditionally. She would give you anything she had and would go out of her way to help you if you needed help. Melanie had a straight-forward way of handling the world with common sense and humor, she would make you laugh and then help you sort out the problems in your life. If there was no changing the situation, she would still make you laugh at both it and yourself. Our beloved “Mel” will be missed by those all of us still here.
